About MKR Center
Your Premier Work Management Blog by MKR LLC
Welcome to MKR Center!
Hi, I’m Jim McCrosky, Principal at MKR LLC and the creator of the MKR Center website, a blog dedicated to exploring the world of work management.
Whether you’re managing projects, teams, or your own daily tasks, work management is at the core of how we achieve success—it’s the foundation to being productive, motivated, and effective.
The Universal Nature of Work
For me, work isn’t just about the 9-to-5 grind. It’s about any effort where you’re putting in time, energy, or resources to make something happen. Whether it’s mental or physical labor, when you’re creating something or solving a problem, you’re working. And how well we manage our work is a key driver to our success.
And importantly, work management isn’t top-down management. It is about how we organize and approach our work, and how we organize and approach ourselves.
My Journey
I’ve spent many years in different fields, from military service to retail and service management to government contracting and business consulting. My professional journey started as an enlisted Marine, where I gained practical lessons in leadership, responsibility, mission-orientation, the value of people and teams, and the importance of getting the right things done.
As I advanced through the ranks, I took on increasing responsibilities in projects, operations, and program management. I led teams, balanced stakeholder interests, and worked under varied and some tough conditions.

After transitioning to civilian life, I’ve had the privilege of working in project management, product development, business improvement initiatives, and consulting for international startups and an international business magazine.
Life Lessons

Over the years, I’ve worked with organizations that thrived and others that faced significant challenges. I’ve learned through observation, being mentored, mentoring, and positive and sometimes tough-to-hear feedback.
I’ve learned that while many factors contribute to success and to setbacks, there truly are universal principles and fundamentals to managing work. But that doesn’t mean there is only one way to practice work. Not only do we have different environmental contexts, we have different personal contexts.
Through my experiences and my own achievements, challenges, setbacks, and growth, I’ve learned our outcomes in large part often come from the way we manage work and the way we manage ourselves.
So in the end, I’ve learned it is about leveraging the universal principles and fundamentals of work management to our individual environmental-personal contexts.
